How to Have Headshot Photography You Actually Love

I can’t even tell you how many times people have told me how much they cringe at their LinkedIn profile image.
If that’s you - you’re not alone.

It’s my mission to capture the best photo of you you’ve ever seen of yourself - and that includes your corporate headshots.

Because here’s the truth: having an expert, professional photoshoot doesn’t just change how others see you - it changes how you see yourself. It’s one of the fastest confidence boosters you can invest in.

Here are a few of the key ingredients that go into creating a next-level headshot experience.

1. Choose a Style You Love

One of the most important factors in loving your professional portraits is choosing a photographer whose style you genuinely connect with.

Look at their portfolio - do you see people who look like you? Do the images feel natural, confident, and real?

A common mistake is choosing a photographer who only shows photos of young models with flawless skin who’ve never had a bad hair day in their life. That’s not me - and if you’re reading this, it’s probably not you either.

You deserve photos that look like you - at your best.

2. Find the Best Light

I sure as heck want a headshot photographer who knows how to show me in my best light - literally.

Contrary to popular opinion, it’s not the camera or Photoshop that makes a photo great. It’s the light.

Beautiful light can take your image from “ugh” to “WOW”.

Natural light is often thought of as the best - and it can be wonderful! But the weather doesn’t always play ball. Direct sunlight creates harsh shadows that emphasise texture and lines, and I’ve never once had someone say, “Please make me look older, Tabitha!”

Soft, flattering light makes your skin glow, your eyes sparkle, and your confidence shine through.

3. Show Your Personality

One of the biggest compliments I get about my headshots is that they don’t look like traditional, stuffy corporate photos.

No stiff, awkward poses here.

It’s not about shooting in a hundred locations - it’s about capturing connection.

When people look at your photo and instantly get a sense of who you are, that’s when you know your headshot is working for you.

4. Work with the Right Photographer for You

This is where a good headshot becomes a great headshot.

To truly capture your personality and confidence, you need a photographer who helps you through the entire process - from expression coaching to posing - and who creates an environment where you feel relaxed and uplifted.

That’s my job: to help you feel like you’re in the company of an encouraging friend. Because when you feel good, it shows.

You Deserve More Than “Good Enough”

You’re amazing at what you do - your headshot should reflect that.

You deserve more than a stiff, same-same corporate photo. You deserve a portrait that captures your confidence, personality, and professionalism - all in one frame.

If you’re ready to finally have headshots you love, I’d love to chat.
